Since taking over the program in 2006 as head coach, Schuling has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2014. Prior to being named head coach, Schuling served as an assistant coach for two seasons. During that span, Simmons went 28-4-1, won the GNAC tournament championship in 2004 to give Simmons its first-ever NCAA Tournament berth in any sport and also captured the regular season crown in 2005.

A four-year starter at Syracuse University from 2000-03, Schuling made 64 career starts for the Orange and scored six goals from her midfield position. A two-year captain, she finished her career tied for ninth on the program's all-time assist list. The award is given to the SU athlete that best exhibits sportsmanship, leadership and attitude on the field.

In addition to her collegiate experience, Schuling returned to the Women's Premier Soccer League in 2009 as co-captain of the Bay State Select, and made an appearance for the United States National "B" Team in 2002 against Mexico.
