  • Fontaine Named GNAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Year; Five Named to All-Conference Team

    WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons University’s Meghan Fontaine (Westminster, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Year in addition to being named to the All-Conference First Team. Senior Ana Giarrusso (Hingham, Mass.), sophomores Abby Anderson (South Yarmouth, Mass.) and Maggie Fuzak (Buffalo, N.Y.) and first year Emily Plummer (San Diego, Calif.) were all tabbed to the GNAC Second Team. 
  • Field Hockey Ends Season with 6-0 Loss at Saint Joseph's (Maine) in GNAC Semifinals

    STANDISH, Maine -- The number four seeded Simmons University field hockey team was defeated by host number one seed Saint Joseph's College, 6-0, this evening in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship Tournament Semifinals at the SJC Athletics Complex in Standish, Maine. The Sharks finish their season at 7-12, while the Monks, who received votes in the most recent National Field Hockey Coaches Association national poll, improve to 18-1.
  • D'Anna, Devitt Lead Field Hockey over Johnson & Wales, 2-0, in GNAC Tournament First Round

    BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore forward Lily D’Anna (Woodstock, Vt.) and first year forward Lilly Devitt (Belmont, Mass.) each scored to lead the fourth-seeded Simmons University field hockey team to a 2-0 victory over visiting number five seed Johnson & Wales University this evening in the opening round of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship Tournament at Daly Field in Brighton, Mass.

    NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Simmons University field hockey team was defeated by host Colby-Sawyer College, 1-0, this afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match at Veitch Turf Field in New London, N.H. The Sharks fall to 6-11 overall, including 4-3 in league play, while the Chargers win their school-record seventh straight match and improve to 13-4 and 5-2.
  • Field Hockey Defeats Anna Maria, 4-1

    PAXTON, Mass. -- Four different players scored for the Simmons University field hockey team in a 4-1 victory over host Anna Maria College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match today on AMCAT Field in Paxton, Mass. The Sharks improve to 6-10 overall and 4-2 in league play, while the AMCATS fall to 6-8 and 2-4.

    BOSTON, Mass. – The Simmons University field hockey team received four goals from four different players and hung on to defeat visiting Regis (Mass.), 4-3, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match at Daly Field in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks improve to 5-10 overall and 3-2 in league play, while the Pride fall to 2-10 and 1-5.

The Sharks fall to 4-9 on the season, while the Lyons improve to 7-6.

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- First year midfielder Emily Plummer (San Diego, Calif.) scored a pair of goals to lead the Simmons University field hockey team over host Johnson & Wales University, 4-2, this afternoon at Scotts Miracle-Gro Field in Providence, R.I. The Sharks improve to 4-8 overall and 2-2 in league play, while the Wildcats fall to 2-8 and 1-3.

The Sharks improve to 2-3 on the season, while the Falcons fall to 0-2.
