    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Simmons University softball player Lauren Del Vacchio (Murrieta, Calif.) was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-New England Region Third Team, it was announced today by the NFCA. 
  • Capello Named GNAC Softball Coach of the Year, Castigliego Tabbed Top Rookie; Seven Named All-Conference

    WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons University’s Brook Capello  (Hanover, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Softball Coach of the Year, while Maddie Castigliego (Bristol, R.I.) was selected the league’s Rookie of the Year. In addition, six Sharks were named to seven spots on the All-Conference squad, it was announced by the GNAC. 
  • Softball Defeats Saint Joseph's (Maine), 5-3, in GNAC Tournament

    BOSTON, Mass. – The Simmons University softball team saw every member of its starting line-up reach base via a hit or walk in a 5-3 victory over Saint Joseph’s College (Maine) this afternoon to stay alive in an elimination game of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament played at Daly Field in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks improve to 21-22 on the season, while the Monks finish their season at 13-23. Simmons advances to play Emmanuel College (Mass.) in the loser’s bracket final at 3:00 p.m. 
  • Castigliego, Mulhern Give Softball 3-2 Win Over Emmanuel To Advance To GNAC Championship Game

    BOSTON, Mass. – First year starting pitcher Maddie Castigliego (Bristol, R.I.) allowed just one earned run over nine innings and classmate Allie Mulhern (Westford, Mass.) blooped a run-scoring single to give the Simmons University softball team a walk-off 3-2 victory over Emmanuel College (Mass.) in the loser’s bracket final of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament this afternoon at Daly Field in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks even their record at 22-22 and advance to the GNAC Championship game for the first time since 2014 with their first-ever post-season victory over Emmanuel. The Saints end their season with a 25-14 mark. 
  • Simmons Softball Falls in GNAC Championship to Saint Joseph (Conn.), 3-0

    BOSTON, Mass. – The Simmons University softball team was shut out by University of Saint Joseph (Conn.), 3-0, this evening in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship at Daly Field in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks finish their campaign at 22-23, while the Blue Jays have won six straight and 10 of their last 12 to improve to 27-17 on the season. USJ earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship Tournament following the first shutout in the GNAC Championship game since 2013 and its first crown since 2000.
  • Vann Leads Simmons Softball over Suffolk, 8-1, in GNAC Tournament

    BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore left fielder Ivy Vann (Bend, Ore.) hit a home run and drove in three runs, while the pitching staff allowed just one run to fuel the Simmons University softball team in an 8-1 victory over Suffolk University this evening in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship Tournament at Daly Field in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks improve to 20-22, while the Rams conclude their season at 21-18. Simmons advances to play the GNAC North Division number three seed Saint Joseph’s College (Maine) tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. at Daly Field. The Monks advanced with a 3-2 win over South Division number three seed Johnson & Wales University.

The Sharks fall to 19-22 on the season, while the Blue Jays win their fourth straight and eight of their last 10 games to improve to 25-17.

    NORTHFIELD, Vt.  – Sophomore catcher Christie Bott (Seaford, N.Y.) was 3-4 with a double and a run batted in, while first year pitcher Maddie Castigliego (Bristol, R.I.) allowed just a run on three hits to lead the Simmons University softball team to a 3-1 opening game victory, before falling in the nightcap to host Norwich University, 4-2, today in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference doubleheader at the NU Softball Field in Northfield, Vt. The Sharks end the regular season with a 19-21 overall mark and had their nine-game winning streak snapped in the second game as they fell to 13-3 in league play, while the Cadets end the regular slate at 14-14 and 8-8.

    BOSTON, Mass. – First year pitcher Maddie Castigliego (Bristol, R.I.) allowed two earned runs on four hits and drove in six runs from the plate to lead the Simmons University softball team to a 7-3 game one victory and senior first base Dom Ortiz (Lawrence, Mass.) was 3-4 with a double and three RBI in a 7-3 win in the nightcap to power the Sharks to a sweep over visiting University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) this afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at Daly Field in Brighton, Mass. Simmons has won eight in a row and 14 of its last 18 to improve to 18-20 overall, including 12-2 in league play, while the Blue Jays fall to 21-17 and 10-4.

    BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Danielle Carson (Ashland, Mass.) went 6-6 with two doubles, a triple and a home run, while first year Maddie Castigliego (Bristol, R.I.) hurled eight and two-thirds innings of two-hit ball to lead the Simmons University softball team to a double-header sweep over visiting Lasell College, winning the first contest, 11-0, in five innings, before taking the nightcap, 11-6, this evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play at Daly Field in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks have now won 12 of their last 16 and improve to 16-20 overall, including 10-2 in league play, while the Lasers fall to 6-28 and 2-10.

    STANDISH, Maine - Sophomore shortstop Marissa Santoro (Franklin, Mass.) reached base safely seven times, including six hits, while junior center fielder Lauren Del Vacchio (Murrieta, Calif.) was 5-8 with three runs batted in to lead the Simmons University softball team in a doubleheader sweep over host Saint Joseph's College (Maine), winning the first game, 6-4, before taking the nightcap, 9-6, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action today at Richard Bailey Field in Standish, Maine. The Sharks win their fourth straight game to improve to 14-20 overall and 8-2 in league play, while the Monks fall to 10-15 and 8-2.

    HUDSON, N.H. -- First year shortstop Allie Mulhern (Westford, Mass.) had three hits and knocked in three runs to lead the Simmons University softball team to a 10-2 game one victory, while sophomore pitcher Hailey Yabroudy (Amherst, N.H.) hurled a one-hit five-inning shutout to earn an 8-0 win in the nightcap over visiting Rivier University today in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference doubleheader played at Presentation of Mary Academy in Hudson, N.H. The Sharks improve to 12-20 overall and 6-2 in league play, while the Raiders fall to 5-19 and 1-9.

The Sharks fall to 10-20 overall and 4-2 in league play, while the Wildcats win their fourth straight to improve to 13-11 and 5-1.

    FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- First year Maddie Castigliego (Bristol, R.I.) went 3-4 with a double and did not allow a run from the pitching circle in five and two-thirds innings to lead the Simmons University softball team in a pair of losses to host Framingham State University, 5-4, 6-4, this afternoon at Maple Street Field in Framingham, Mass. The Sharks fall to 10-18 on the season, while the Rams improve to 13-11.

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- First year pitcher Maddie Castigliego (Bristol, R.I.) hurled a complete-game victory and knocked in three runs to help the Simmons University softball team to a double-header sweep over host Albertus Magnus College, winning the first game, 8-3, before taking the nightcap, 6-3, this afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at Shea Stadium in New Haven, Conn. The Sharks win their sixth straight game and seven of their last eight to improve to 10-16 overall, including 4-0 in league play, while the Falcons fall to 11-11 and 0-4.

Ore.) was 4-6 with three triples and knocked in a pair of runs and sophomore starting pitcher Hailey Yabroudy (Amherst, N.H.) hurled a four-hit shutout to lead the Simmons University softball team to a Great Northeast Athletic Conference double-header sweep over Regis (Mass.), winning the opener, 12-2 in five innings, before taking the nightcap, 8-0 in six frames, this afternoon at Daly Field in Brighton, Mass. The twinbill was the conference opener for both teams as the Sharks improve to 8-16 and have won four straight and five of their last six. The home team is now 2-0 in league play, while the Pride drops to 3-15 and 0-2.

The Sharks have won three of their last four games and improve to 6-16 on the season, while the Lions fall to 11-9.

    BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore second base Marissa Santoro (Franklin, Mass.) was 4-8 with a home run and four runs batted in to lead the Simmons University softball team in a split with visiting Emmanuel College (Mass.) this afternoon in non-conference play at Daly Field in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks took the opener, 7-3, before the Saints rebounded with a 7-4 win in the nightcap. Simmons is now 4-16 on the season, while Emmanuel is 5-9.

  • Softball Swept by Brandeis, 11-9, 9-6

    BOSTON, Mass. -- Sophomore left fielder Ivy Vann (Bend, Ore.) collected four hits, including a home run and knocked in three runs to lead the Simmons University softball team, which was swept by Brandeis University in a doubleheader, dropping the opener in nine innings, 11-9, before losing the second game, 9-6, this today at Daly Field in Brighton, Mass. The twinbill was originally scheduled to be played at host Brandeis in Waltham, but was moved to Daly Field due to unplayable conditions in Waltham. The Sharks fall to 3-15 on the season, while the Judges improve to a perfect 8-0.
  • Softball Drops A Pair to No. 5 MIT

    BOSTON, Mass. – The Simmons University softball team rapped out 22 hits, including 10 extra-base hits, but were swept by number 23 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 14-5 in the first game, and 12-7 in the nightcap, today at Daly Field in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks fall to 3-11 on the season, while the Engineers, who are ranked in the most recent National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll, run their win streak to nine straight, for their longest streak since an 11-game string in 2009, and improve to 11-2 on the season.
  • Softball Comes Back to Win Game Two for Split with Emerson, 3-11, 12-4

    BOSTON, Mass. -- The Simmons University softball team scored eight runs in the top of the eighth inning of the second game to earn a 12-4 victory and gain a split after dropping the opener, 11-3, to host Emerson College today at Rotch Field in Boston, Mass. The Sharks are now 3-9 on the season, while the Lions are 5-5.

The Sharks fall to 2-7 on the season, while the Bennies, who are ranked in the most recent National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll, improve to 8-3.
