BOSTON, Mass. – Simmons College women's soccer player Mikayla Elliott (Lowell, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week for the week of September 7-13, it was announced today by the league.
Elliott netted a goal in two matches for the week for the Sharks. The first year player tallied her first collegiate marker to give Simmons a 1-0 lead and its first goal of the season as part of a 3-2 overtime victory over host Eastern Connecticut State University on September 9.
The Bishop Guertin High School product has played in all five matches for the Sharks, while getting the starting nod on one occasion. The forward owns a .333 shooting percentage and has put two of her shots on net, including a goal.
The Sharks were picked to finish third in the GNAC Pre-Season Coaches Poll and are currently 2-3-0 overall and 1-0-0 in conference play. Simmons will play again on Tuesday, September 15 when it travels across the river to take on Lesley University at 8:00 p.m.
