The Sharks offensive front converged in front of the net, but were unable to dislodge the ball from between a Lasell defender's legs and she sat on the ground until the keeper could take possession.
The Lasers took a 1-0 lead into the intermission.
Lasell increased its lead to 2-0 when sophomore forward Carly Zdanek's Newton, N.J.) shot in the middle of the box deflected off a Simmons' defender and found the back of the net on the right side at the 55:58 mark of the second stanza. The marker was her team-high seventh of the season.
Junior keeper Sarah LaClair (Belchertown, Mass.) stopped all six shots she faced for the Lasers to post her fifth shutout of the season and 17th of her career. Junior goalie Casey Halle (Watertown, Mass.) made eight saves for the Sharks.
