WINTHROP Mass. – Simmons College's Sarah Bohan (Guilford, Conn.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week for the week of October 3-9, it was announced today by the league.
The sophomore placed 95th overall and 12th among Division III runners with a time of 20:25.45 at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association Championship at historic Franklin Park in Dorchester, Mass. on October 8. The Guilford High School product was the top finisher for the Sharks and helped them to a 14th-place team finish, including third among Division III schools in the five-kilometer race.
For the season, Bohan has been Simmons' top runner in its past two meets, placing 24th overall and seventh vs. Division III competition at the 36th Annual Women's Codfish Bowl at Franklin Park on September 24 with a personal-record time of 20:10. A Social Work major, she made her collegiate debut with a two-mile mark of 12:42 to finish 10th at the Seventh Annual Fens Classic on September 3.
The Sharks return to action when they travel to Wellesley, Mass. to compete at the Seven Sisters Championship at Nehoiden Golf Course at 11:00 a.m.
