Sharks Continue To Make Strides At Sean Collier Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Simmons University Track & Field took the short drive over to MIT to compete at the Sean Collier Invitational where the Sharks continued to drop records.

  • Talya Mendez-DeGraw broke her own long jump record in a big way as the newcomer measured at 4.99m which was over .20m than her jump in early April.
  • Elevating their 4x100m relay record once again was Isatu Fofanah, Mendez-DeGraw, Carolyn Dorman, and Jayla James who put together a time of 51.25.
  • In the 1500m run, Charlotte Shaw placed in the top-25 with a 24th place finish with her time of 5:15.17. 
  • James bested her previous program record in the 100m hurdles as today's time clocked in at 17.20 (previous record was 17.73).
  • Mendez-DeGraw blew past a 30 year old school record in the 60m dash (13.00) thanks to an incredible time of 12.93. She recorded the 11th best time out of nearly 40 runners.

The Sharks will now gear up to battle at the Great Northeast Athletics Conference (GNAC) Championships which take place this weekend in Standish, Maine.
