4x100m Relay Team Shines At GNAC Championship

MEET RESULTS

STANDISH, Maine – Simmons University competed at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championship over the past two days. The Sharks accumulated 40 points for a seventh-place finish as a team.

By The Numbers (Saturday)

The 4x800 relay team of Reagan Miller, Julia Pellegrino, Trinity Williamson, and Hannah Bergeron placed fifth with a time of 11:40.48.
Isatu Fofanah set a PR's in the 100m dash trial with a time of 12.98.
Jaden Johnson finished sixth in the 10,000m with a time of 46:58.01.

By The Numbers (Sunday)

Bergeron took fourth in the steeplechase with a time of 13:41.57 in her first time ever competing in the event.
In one of the most exciting finishes of the meet, the 4x100 relay team of Fofanah, Talya Mendez-DeGraw, Carolyn Dorman, and Jayla James won the GNAC title by just .001 seconds with a time of 50.524. The mark also broke the program record of 51.25.
In the 1500m, Trinity Williamson was the sixth runner to cross the finish line in 6:16.16, while Beth Pennington secured eighth in 6:32.39 as both Sharks booked personal best times.
James excelled in the 100m hurdles as the junior set a new program record, clocking a time of 16.88. Teammate, Isabel Deptula added a seventh-place finish in 18.27.
In the 800m, both Julia Pellegrino (2:45.71) and Reagan Miller (2:54.17) each recorded personal best times.
Fofanah earned third in the 100m dash with a time of 13.09.
Mendez-DeGraw was narrowly edged out at the finish line in the 200m dash for the top spot, collecting a silver medal as the clock read 27.32 for a personal record.
Wrapping up the day was the 4x400 relay team comprised of Deptula, Dorman, Alina Albuja, and Mendez-DeGraw who placed fourth in 4:34.98.
