WATERVILLE, Maine – Fresh off hoisting the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship trophy in their first season in the league, Simmons University Tennis was well represented on the NAC All-Conference Teams.
Junior
Emilie Lapointe captured a well deserved Co-Player of the Year award as well as a spot on first team singles and doubles. Sophomores and doubles partners,
Masha Shutts and
Amoli Vad also secured their names on the first team singles as well as first team doubles. Rounding out the all-conference recognitions was junior captain
Emma Parsons who earned first team honors in doubles.
Lapointe was a driving force for the Sharks all season, stepping into the No. 1 slot for the majority of the season and just plainly dominated the competition in and out of conference action. Boasting an overall record of 12-1 (5-0 in the NAC), Lapointe didn't allow her opponents to get on the board in five of her wins as the veteran won by scores of 6-0, 6-0. In the finals, Lapointe was named to the All-Tournament Team for her stellar play.
Sophomore Shutts, orchestrated an overall record of 8-2 as well as 2-0 in league play before being crowned the Tournament MVP after winning the clinching match to seal the deal for the Sharks in the Championship match against Husson. Three of Shutts' overall wins came by way of a clean sheet. Shutts' only two losses came early in the season against Roger Williams and Gordon College, both of who are in the semifinals of their own conference tournament. Most impressively, Shutts finished the season on a seven game win streak.
The versatile Vad took turns in the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 position this season for the Sharks, with records of 1-0, 3-1, and 7-2, respectively. Playing the majority of league contests in the No. 2 slot, Vad's lone loss came against the NAC Co-Player of the Year Jessica Legendre from Husson. Following suite with the shutouts, Vad notched back-to-back 6-0, 6-0 wins in league action. Vad also earned an All-Tournament Team selection.
Parsons and Lapointe teamed up to hold an 8-1 record as well as 4-0 in NAC play this season in the No. 1 and No. 2 slot. The duo rolled through their counterparts with multiple sweeps and clutch performances to seal the doubles point for Simmons.
The No. 1 dynamic duo of Shutts and Vad was a force to be reckoned with all season long. Once the pair linked up in a non-league match with Clark, Shutts and Vad triumphed in all contests by a score of 6-0 other than one match where they won 6-2 in the regular-season.

Grace Burke was recognized by the conference for her play on and off the court by claiming a spot on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
