BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Swimming & Diving defeated the University of New England Nor'easters 195-89 in non-conference action Friday night at the Holmes Sports Center. Simmons remains undefeated at 4-0 in dual meet competition.
Senior Jen Collins (Trumbull, Conn.), and first year Miriam Swisher (Albuquerque, N.M.) had standout performances, each scoring 27 individual points for the Sharks. Collins finished first in the 200 Free, 500 Free and 200 IM, while Swisher finished first in all three of her individual events, including the 100 Free, 50 Fly and 50 Back. Collins and Swisher were also members of the Sharks 200 Medley Relay that edged out the Nor'easters by two seconds.
Hannah Plourde (Westfield, Mass.) finished first in the 400 IM and the 200 Breast and also picked up a third place finish in the 200 IM for 21 points toward the team's victory. First year
Shylee Stewart (Eastham, Mass.) added 18 points and junior
Chloe Davis (Merrimack, N.H.) added 13 points.
UNE's Sara DeAngelo took home top honors in the 200 Fly and second in the 200 Breast, while Alex Gabriels' finished second in both the 50 and 200 Back.
"The team really fired up for this meet. We lost to UNE last year by a few points, and our women were definitely looking to settle the score. They arrived on deck ready for some close races," said Head Coach Mindy Williams.
