The Simmons University Sports Medicine staff is committed to enhancing the quality of health care for varsity student-athletes through the prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses. The Sports Medicine staff consists of 2 BOC Certified Athletic Trainers who work under the guidance of team orthopedic physicians out of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC). Simmons University Sports Medicine is dedicated to the overall health and well-being of all student-athletes to ensure safe and healthy participation in intercollegiate athletics.

Athletic Medical Requirements

Athletic medical paperwork must be completed on a yearly basis in order to participate on a Simmons varsity team. Directions on completing these requirements will be forwarded by head coaches to student-athletes when paperwork becomes available for the upcoming academic year. Requirements differ for returning and new/transfer student-athletes. All requirements are collected electronically through the online system ATS.

Visiting Team Information

The Simmons University Athletic Training facility is located on the first floor of the Holmes Sports Center in room 104. The Athletic Training facility will be open 2 hours prior and 30 minutes after all home competitions. A certified Athletic Trainer will be present at all home competitions, and the team physician will be on-call. 

If your team is visiting Daly Field, the Athletic Training facility is located adjacent to Field 1 (soccer/lacrosse) along Nonantum Road.  The Athletic Training facility is the last door facing the fields.

As with competitions at Holmes Sports Center, the Athletic Training facility will be open 2 hours before and 30 minutes after all competitions, and a certified Athletic Trainer will be present at all home competitions with a team physician on call.

If your team will be traveling without a certified Athletic Trainer, please supply them with a fully-stocked medical kit for any pre competition needs that may require attention once they have arrived at Simmons. An email with those specific team needs is also appreciated ahead of the scheduled competition.

The Sports Medicine staff at Simmons will provide all visiting teams with water, cups and ice. Emergency equipment (crutches, AED, splints, etc.) will be available on site as well.
