Simmons University Athletics Compliance is committed to supporting the mission of the Department of Athletics and Recreation, while adhering to all NCAA, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), Northeast Athletic Conference (NAC), and Simmons University rules and regulations.
This Student-Athlete Handbook is designed to provide our student-athletes with information concerning the policies and expectations of Simmons University. It is not a substitute for other information and publications made available from the University regarding academics and services available to all students and should be read in conjunction with those publications. If you cannot find answers to your questions in any of these publications, please ask our Dean of Students, ask your RA, ask your coach. A wide variety of services are available to you at Simmons. Make sure to acquaint yourselves with them and use them.

Consistent with the NCAA Interim NIL Policy effective July 1, 2021, Simmons University (“Simmons”) student-athletes may receive compensation from third parties for use of their Name, Image and Likeness in endorsements or NIL activities.
NCAA Banned Drugs & Additional Policies
Banned Drugs
All student athletes must consent to a possible future drug test before participating in athletics. Any student athlete who is found to have used a substance on the banned list shall be immediately ineligible to participate. If the student athlete has tested positive for a substance that is not a "street drug" they will be ruled ineligible for one calendar year after collection of the positive test and will be charged with a season of participation.
Street Drugs
Any student athlete who has tested positive for a street drug during the NCAA administered test shall be ineligible for a minimum of 50% of the season in all sports. The student athlete cannot regain eligibility until their ineligibility term is fulfilled and they have tested negative in a subsequent test.

Information for Transgender and/or Transitioning Student-Athletes
Simmons welcomes transgender student-athletes to participate in varsity sports teams. Simmons intercollegiate athletic teams compete as women's teams and all student-athletes are eligible to participate consistent with the NCAA's Participation Policy for Transgender Student-Athletes. Simmons Athletics Department will work with you to determine your eligibility.
