BOSTON – Simmons swimming and diving (1-0) opened the 2024-2025 campaign with a 163-105 victory over Westfield State University (0-3) on Sunday afternoon.
The Sharks' 200-yard medley relay A-squad of
Camelia Hannah,
Bee Eckels,
Chaelin Humphrey and
Carli Quinlan began the day with a convincing first-place victory, touching the wall with a time of 2:00.52. Simmons' B relay team of
Laura Luthi,
Julia Long,
Isabel Barry-Ruiz and
Clarissa Weaver posted a time of 2:18.06.
Senior captain
Camelia Hannah was one of four Sharks to win a pair of individual events. Hannah swam away from the field in the 50-yard back with a time of 30.85, while touching the wall in 1:07.68 in the 100-yard back.
Fellow captain, junior
Carli Quinlan placed first in the 200-yard free, clocking a time of 1:58.96, and the 100-yard IM with a time of 1:03.87. Sophomore swimmer
Bee Eckels took first in the 50- (35.34) and 100-yard (1:18.03) breaststroke, while first-year Chalin Humphrey finished first in the 50-yard fly (30.61) and 100-yard fly (1:08.49).
The Sharks concluded the meet edging out the Owls by two tenths of a second in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Simmons' A-squad of
