BIDDEFORD, Maine – Returning to the pool, Simmons swimming and diving (1-3) dropped a dual meet to the University of New England on Saturday afternoon.
The Sharks won eight of 16 events, led by captains senior
Camelia Hannah and junior
Carli Quinlan. Hannah finished first in the 50-yard backstroke touch the wall with a time of 30.85, then six events later she claimed first in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking a time of 1:08.27
Quinlan also earned a pair of first places finishes in the 50-yard freestyle (25.77) and the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall with a time of 55.18. In the 200-yard freestyle, sophomore
Isabel Barry-Ruiz posted a time of 2:12.24 to claim first place, while first-year
Chaelin Humphrey solidified first in the 100-yard fly with a time of 30.33.
In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the Sharks A relay squad of
Laura Luthi,
Bee Eckels, Isabel Barry Ruiz and
Carli Quinlan registering as season-best time of 4:01.70 and just a second behind UNE's A squad.
