CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Simmons swimming and diving capped off the 2024 MIT Invitational placing fourth of the six teams, including defeating Wellesley College, on Sunday afternoon.
The Sharks opened the Sunday night finals posting a season-best time in the 200-yard medley relay. Simmons' A-relay team of
Camelia Hannah,
Bee Eckels Chaelin Humphrey and
Carli Quinlan, touched the wall with a time of 1:58.12. The Sharks' B-relay team of
Isabel Barry-Ruiz,
Julia Long,
Anna Kelly and
Clarissa Weaver clocked a time of 2:12.26.
In the 500-yard freestyle, sophomore
Anna Kelly clocked a personal-best time of 5:52.14 – cutting four seconds from her previous best. Fellow sophomore
Isabel Barry-Ruiz also clipped two seconds from her personal-best with a time of 5:49.54, while
Charlotte Doherty touched the wall with a time of 6:16.72.
Junior captain
Carli Quinlan continued to improve her 100-yard butterfly time, taking a second off her previous personal-best. The Haverhill, Massachusetts native clocked a time of 59.80 – four seconds from achieving an NCAA B-Cut time. Additionally, Quinlan also finished second in the B-final of the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall with a time of 54.48.
The Sharks finished the night with a season-best time in the 400-yard freestyle relay where the A-squad of
Chaelin Humphrey,
Anna Kelly,
Bee Eckels and
Isabel Barry-Ruiz posted a tiem of 4:01.59.
