WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior captain
Carli Quinlan was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Swimmer of the Year after an incredible performance across the three-day championship meet. The Sharks finished second to Norwich University tallying a total of 810 points.
Quinlan Dominates, Earns Top Honors
Quinlan capped off the championship with a win in the 100-yard freestyle, touching in at 53.67, sealing her place as one of the top performers of the meet with four individual event titles. Over the weekend, she also secured first-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly, while contributing to Simmons' top relay performances.
Simmons Highlights
- Bee Eckels and Julia Long delivered silver and bronze in the 200-yard IM, keeping Simmons in the hunt for key points.
- Camelia Hannah added another medal with a runner-up finish in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in at 1:01.45.
- In the 1650-yard freestyle, Isabel Barry-Ruiz placed second while Anna Kelly placed third in the 1000-yard freestyle, showing Simmons' endurance strength in the distance events.
- The 400-yard freestyle relay team, featuring Quinlan, Isabel Barry-Ruiz, Hailey Stuck, and Camelia Hannah, closed out the championship in second place, further solidifying Simmons' podium presence.
A Successful Championship Weekend
With Quinlan earning Swimmer of the Year and multiple top finishes across individual and relay events, Simmons University once again proved to be one of the top programs in the GNAC. Fourth year Head Coach
