WORCESTER, Mass. – Simmons swimming and diving made a strong showing on the first day of the 2025 GNAC Swimming & Diving Championships, finishing the day in second place overall with 281 points, just behind Norwich University (288 points).
Relay Success
The Sharks started the finals session on a high note, claiming victory in the
200-yard medley relay with a season-best time of
1:54.09, securing
40 points. The relay team of
Camelia Hannah, Bee Eckels, Hailey Stuck, and Carli Quinlan outpaced Norwich University by more than a second.
In the
400-yard freestyle relay, Simmons again topped the podium, finishing first with another season- time of
3:43.64, thanks to
Hailey Stuck, Isabel Barry-Ruiz, Bee Eckels, and Carli Quinlan.
Individual Highlights
- Carli Quinlan continued her dominance in the 200-yard freestyle, setting a new GNAC mark with a 1:54.43 finish, earning 20 points for the Sharks.
- Chaelin Humphrey took second place in the 400-yard IM, clocking 5:02.54 and earning 17 points.
- Camelia Hannah secured silver in the 50-yard butterfly (27.74) and added a bronze in the 200-yard backstroke (2:20.38).
- Julia Long placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.66), while Bee Eckels followed closely behind in fifth place (1:13.12).
- Anna Kelly secured a third-place finish in the grueling 1000-yard freestyle (11:46.04), helping Simmons pick up crucial points.
- Simmons placed three swimmers in the top eight of the 50-yard butterfly, with Hannah (2nd), Stuck (3rd), and Kelly (8th), showing their depth in the event.

With only a
seven-point gap separating Simmons from first-place Norwich, the Sharks are poised to challenge for the team title as the meet continues into the weekend. Their strong relay performances and individual podium finishes signal that they will be a major contender in the coming days.
