Early Tallies Lift Lasers Over Sharks Despite Lights-Out Second-Half Defense

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons University Soccer hosted the Lasell University Lasers in conference action where the visitors netted two goals in the first half to claim the narrow win.

How It Happened
  • Lasell drew first blood in the 11th minute after a bloop pass from 20 yards out led a Laser winger to rip a shot into the back netting. Then, in the 28th minute, the Lasers added another off of a free kick to bring the score to 2-0 at halftime.
  • Simmons keeper Mikaela Marie Javar came out of her box to make a gritty sliding save early in the second half to keep the deficit to two goals. Javar was not done making a Sportscenter Top-10 highlight reel as the sophomore flew around everywhere to keep the Lasers off the board in the final 45 minutes.
