BOSTON, Mass. – Last week, Simmons University softball student-athlete
Lauren Stenmon and lacrosse student-athlete
Everett Garner traveled down to New York City and represented Simmons at the Women's Sports Foundation Conference. After taking the train down, the pair got to explore the city before diving into the conference. "It was really cool to meet athletes our age and professional athletes from all divisions and different sports," said Stenmon.
Throughout the event, Lauren and Everett connected with athletes, coaches, and other professionals from all over the country - Massachusetts to Alaska. During the conference, there were many different presentations sessions on media training, financial literacy and safety/ harassment, as well as inspiring talks from leaders in women's sports. A highlight for Lauren was being part of the live audience for Sarah Spain's Good Game podcast featuring soccer legends Julie Foudy and Abby Wambach.
"Everyone from the foundation was so kind, and the format was really well organized," Stenmon shared. "Overall, it was such a great experience, and I can't thank Head Soccer Coach and Student Athletic Advisory Commitee Advisor Ann Marie Jaworski and Director of Athletics Erica Schuling enough for giving me this amazing opportunity."
