NASHUA, N.H. – Simmons lacrosse (4-6, 3-4 GNAC) returned to its winning ways edging out Rivier University (7-4, 6-2 GNAC) on Tuesday evening.

The game commenced with both teams netting two goals each in the first quarter. Simmons' goals were delivered by Leah Finn and Everett Garner. In the second quarter, the Sharks surged ahead, scoring three unanswered goals. Layla Drinkwater initiated the run with a goal at 10:32, followed by two consecutive goals from Frida Turriza, establishing a 5-2 lead by halftime.

Rivier attempted a comeback in the third quarter, narrowing the gap to 5-3 with a goal at 12:10. However, Simmons responded promptly as Kat Wood scored at 9:28, maintaining a 6-3 advantage. Rivier added another goal before the quarter concluded, bringing the score to 6-4.

In the final quarter, Simmons capitalized on two player-up opportunities. Garner netted her second goal at 14:04, and Turriza completed her hat trick at 11:07, extending the lead to 8-4. Despite Rivier's efforts, adding two more goals late in the quarter, Simmons' defense held firm to secure the 8-6 win.

SIMMONS HIGHLIGHTS

• Senior Frida Turriza registered her seventh hat trick of the season, tallying three goals for three points.
• First-year Everett Garner tallied two goals.
• Senior Layla Drinkwater, senior Kat Wood and junior Leah Finn also notched a goal in the win.
