Erica Schuling, have announced that assistant coach
Sandra Cardillo has been promoted to become the Interim Head Rowing Coach for the Sharks.
After a successful year at the helm under former head Coach Andrii Ivanchuk, Cardillo will continue to build the program with her well-rounded experience in competitive rowing.
Prior to Simmons, Cardillo served as the Director of Rowing at the Watuppa Rowing Center in Fall River, Mass. overseeing assistant coaches, volunteers and seasonal staff. In three years at Watuppa, she was instrumental in turning a seasonal-program for middle and high school age youth into a full-year indoor/outdoor program that serves both the student and adult members of the community. Additionally, Cardillo was awarded the Freedom Rows grant to provide access for military personnel.
No stranger to the city, Cardillo spent nine years coaching at the Community Rowing, Inc. (CRI). While at CRI, she served as a head coach for the sculling military program and OWL on The Water, a program developed in partnership with Children's Hospital aimed at obesity prevention. During her time at CRI, she also spent a year as the Head Coach for the Wayland-Weston Rowing Association Boys Novice Rowing Team.
Prior to CRI, Cardillo worked at Greater Lawrence Rowing where she gained the skills as a bilingual rowing coach with the Middle School Spring Program, coaching students in both English and Spanish. This experience helped her become a Bilingual Coach Mentor with USRowing in 2017.
Away from the water, Cardillo is a personal trainer, completing the Personal Fitness Training Program from the National Personal Training Program in Waltham, Massachusetts.
