BANGOR, Maine – On their second day in Maine, Simmons University Tennis stepped on the court to take on the Eagles of Husson University in conference action.
How It Happened
- The Sharks struck first as the visitors collected the doubles' point after wins from the No. 1 duo of Emilie Lapointe and Emma Parsons (6-3) as well as another 6-3 victory from Amoli Vad and Grace Burke on the No. 2 court.
- After the Eagles took advantage of the Sharks needing to default in No. 6 singles, the home team went on top, 2-1 with their win on the No. 5 court. However, Vad took down her No. 2 counterpart (6-0, 6-2) to even out the overall score out at 2-2. Then, Parsons swung the momentum back into Simmons' favor after capturing a 6-2, 6-3 victory in the No. 4 slot. Clinching the match was the veteran in the No. 1 slot in Lapointe who bested the Eagles' top player by a score of 6-1, 6-2.
