HENNIKER, N.H. – Continuing conference play today, Simmons University Lacrosse traveled up north to take on the Pilgrims of New England College (NEC) where the Pilgrims defended their home turf, 13-8.

How It Happened

• After holding the shot advantage to start the first quarter, the Sharks broke through as Lauren Krupnikoff continued her offensive tear on the week (1-0). Less than two minutes later, Lily Haynes fed Emily Horn who fired one past the NEC keeper to make it 2-0 in favor of the Sharks.
• With 5:42 on the board, NEC took the narrow edge (3-2), but Simmons attacked right back with another Horn tally with an assist from Bridget McNamara (3-3). Neither side was able to pull ahead once more before the half to keep it a tie game.
• First years, Horn and McNamara took it upon themselves to regain the lead (6-3) forcing the Pilgrims to call a timeout to stop the bleeding. Picking up where they left off, Krupnikoff won the draw followed by an Everett Garner goal to bring the scoreboard to 7-3. NEC was able to score once more before the end of the frame (7-4).
• NEC caught fire in the fourth, scoring nine times, including six unanswered interrupted by a Garner goal to collect the come from behind victory.

Beyond The Box Score

• Maria Turriza matched her career-high with five ground balls.
• Bridget McNamara has now scored two goals in back-to-back games.
• With three goals today, Emily Horn recorded seven on the week.
• Sophomore Everett Garner had registered two or more points in every contest this season.
• Simmons returns to Daly on Tuesday, March 17 to host Albertus Magnus at 7 p.m.
