BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons University Lacrosse celebrated Senior Day this afternoon as the Sharks hosted the Rivier University Raiders. In an extremely tight 60 minutes of play, the Raiders were able to come away with the narrow 9-7 win over the Sharks.

How It Happened

• Rookie, Emily Horn ripped in a feed from Kate Lawrence to score the game's first goal (1-0). Rivier evened out the scoreboard five minutes later with a free position goal. The combo of Lawrence and Horn teamed up once again for Simmons' second tally of the first, but the visitors netted three straight to lead, 4-3 heading into the second.
• Rivier stretched their advantage to 5-2 early in the second, but sophomore Everett Garner rocketed in a pair of goals to cut the deficit to just one goal at halftime (5-4).
• The scoreboard was locked up twice in the third period, before the Raiders began to pull away late to go on top, 8-6. 
• Garner fought her way in to bring the score to 8-7 midway through the fourth, as the visitors scored an insurance goal with 90 seconds left on the clock to secure the win.

Beyond The Box Score

• Everett Garner matched her season-high of four goals. 
• Before today's game, the Sharks honored seniors Leah Finn, Maria Turriza, and Kate Petrosso.
• The Sharks return to the field on Monday, April 20 to host Mitchell at 6 p.m.
