BRIGHTON, Mass. – Hitting the court for their second match in as many days, Simmons University Tennis played host to the Albertus Magnus College Falcons at Daly Field today where the Sharks blanked the Falcons, 7-0. Preparing for potential rain, it was decided that singles would be played first.
How It Happened
- In singles play, Amoli Vad set the tone with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles. First-year Victoria McCrann followed with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at the No. 5 position before Masha Shutts earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at the top flight. Senior Emma Parsons secured the match for Simmons with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles. Emilie Lapointe added another straight-set win (6-0, 6-0) at No. 2, while Grace Burke completed the singles sweep with a 6-2, 6-1 decision at No. 4.
- The Sharks carried that momentum into doubles play, posting three consecutive 6-0 victories to complete the 7-0 shutout.
The Sharks remain on their home soil for another match on Saturday, September 19 at 12 p.m. against the Gordon College Fighting Scots.
