LYNDON, Vt. – Simmons University Tennis avoided the weather and made the trip to the Green Mountain State count today, sweeping a doubleheader against Vermont State University-Lyndon. The Sharks opened with a 7-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory before completing the day with a 6-0 win in the nightcap.
Match One
- Simmons swept doubles play to take an early 1-0 lead heading into singles.
- A pair of wins by default put the Sharks in position to close out the match before Amoli Vad secured the victory with a win at No. 2 singles.
- Masha Shutts, Ivy Cote and Grace Burke also earned singles victories as Simmons completed the 7-0 shutout.
Match Two
- Singles play opened the second match as doubles was not contested.
- The Sharks once again benefited from two wins by default to take control early.
- Emilie Lapointe earned a 5-0 (retired) victory at No. 1 singles before Victoria McCrann posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles to clinch the match.
- Emma Parsons (6-0, 6-0) and Grace Burke (6-0, 6-3) also picked up victories as Simmons secured the 6-0 sweep.
The Sharks remain in Vermont as they travel to Vermont State-Johnson tomorrow to play the Badgers at noon.
