Zach Joachim was named head cross country coach in 2022 and assumed the role of head coach of the newly added track & field program in 2024.

Notable Achievements
Coached 2025 GNAC Cross Country Runner-Up Jaden Johnson, marking the best finish by a Simmons student-athlete since 1995.
Coached Charlotte Shaw and the distance medley relay of Shaw, Sofia Girioni, Hannah Bergeron, and Wanda Cirillo to runner-up finishes at the 2025 GNAC Indoor Track & Field Championship.
From 2022-2024, 90% of all Simmons postseason runners set personal bests at the conference or regional cross country championships.
14 out of 18 Simmons athletes ran personal bests at the 2025 GNAC Indoor Track & Field Championship.

Before Simmons
Joachim previously served as head coach at both Massachusetts Bay Community College and Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. While at Lincoln-Sudbury, his athletes won seven divisional and state titles and set multiple state records. He has also coached several post-collegiate athletes, including marathoner Benjamin Macdonald, winner of the 2021 Manchester City Marathon and a top-50 finisher at the 2022 Boston Marathon.

Playing Career
Joachim competed in cross country and track & field in college, earning All-New England and USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. He holds USTFCCCA Specialist Certifications in the Endurance Events; Sprint, Hurdle, & Relay Events; and Strength & Conditioning, as well as a USATF Level 1 Certification.
