Simmons University

Katy Annunziata joined the Simmons University Director of Sports Medicine in July 2023.
 
Before Simmons

• Served as the Head Athletic Trainer at nearby Emerson College from 2018 to 2023, she supervised a staff of two full-time assistants and coordinated the sports medicine coverage for 14 varsity athletic programs. 
• During her time with the Lions, Annunziata led the department’s response to the COVID-19 crisis. She helped implement additional policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure the health and safety of student-athletes for athletic events during the pandemic.
• Seven-year stint at former GNAC member, Mount Ida College where Annunziata served as the assistant athletic trainer before being promoted to the head athletic trainer in May 2016 and remained in that role until the college’s closure in 2018. 

Recognitions
Annunziata was twice recognized by her peers within the GNAC as the Athletic Trainer of the Year in 2016-2017 and 2017-2018.  
 
Education
A board-certified Athletic Trainer, Annunziata graduated with her Bachelor’s in Athletic Training from Merrimack College. She went on to obtain her Master’s in Athletic Training from California University of Pennsylvania, where her thesis involved a dive into “The Availability of Certified Athletic Trainers in High Schools in Massachusetts.”
