Maddie Castigliego was named Head Softball Coach in May 2026 after serving as the program's interim head coach since January 2026.

Previous Experience
Castigliego was an assistant softball coach at Wheaton College from 2023-26. During her time with the Lyons, Wheaton earned a second-place finish in the NEWMAC, its highest conference seed since 2015. She helped coach the 2025 NEWMAC Player of the Year and eight combined All-Conference selections in 2024 and 2025. The program also posted the second-highest NCAA Division III team GPA (3.77) in Spring 2024 and the seventh-highest team GPA nationally (3.77) in Spring 2025. Castigliego assisted with recruiting, scouting, player development, practice planning, game-day preparation, coaching first base, and calling pitches and defensive coverages. She has also coached with Polar Crush Softball since 2020, serving as head coach of the 16U National Team from 2023-25 after previously coaching the organization's 14U and 16U teams.
Playing Career
Castigliego pitched for Simmons from 2019-23 and graduated as the program's all-time wins leader with 64 career victories. She was a two-time GNAC Pitcher of the Year (2022, 2023), the 2019 GNAC Rookie of the Year, a multiple-time All-GNAC and All-Region selection, and the GNAC Tournament MVP during Simmons' conference championship season. She also helped the Sharks earn two NCAA Regional Tournament wins. Castigliego was a fifth-year captain, Simmons Senior Athlete of the Year, and recipient of the Athletic Director Leadership Award.
