Simmons University

Sofia Girioni begins her first year as an assistant cross country/track & field coach at Simmons in 2026-2027.

Girioni returns to Simmons after a decorated career as a student-athlete with the Sharks, running cross country and track and also playing soccer. She earned AII-GNAC honors as a GNAC silver medalist in indoor track as a senior and was an individual conference scorer in both the 5000m and 10,000m. Girioni also previously held school records in the 3000m and 5000m as well as the distance medley relay (all indoor) and competed for the Sharks at the DIII New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 2025. She also served as a captain for track & field.

Girioni earned her bachelor's degree in Nursing with a minor in Psychology at Simmons and currently works as a nurse at Mount Auburn Hospital.
