Freshman Liza Pope (West Newbury, Mass.) was named the Greater Northeast Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week, after going a perfect 4-0 in her matches against Emmanuel and Emerson last week.

"Liza has had a terrific first season for the Sharks. She is a great competitor while on the court and a great teammate while off the court" said Head Coach Bob Rauseo. "Although she is already playing at a high level, she continues to work on her game. Given her ability and determination, her future with us looks very positive."

Pope played a large roll in beating both Emmanuel and Emerson last week. She won both of her singles matches, against Caitrin Dunn from Emmanuel 6-1, 6-1 and Chrissy Laboissonniere from Emerson 6-2, 6-2. Pope also won her doubles matches in both contests with partner Maggie Taylor, winning 8-1 against Emmanuel and 8-0 against Emerson.
