NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Simmons College field hockey team earned a 2-1 road win at Colby-Sawyer in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play Saturday afternoon.

The Sharks improve to 4-9 overall and 3-3 in conference action. The Chargers dip to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the NAC.

Simmons took a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute when sophomore Aslyn Dindorf (Harts Location, N.H.) found the back of the cage off a nice feed from freshman Amy Cronin (Georgetown, Mass.).

The visitors went ahead by a pair of goals in the 15th minute on a goal by junior Monica Doucette (Rockport, Maine). Junior Courtney Cappadona (Foxboro, Mass.) was credited with the assist.

Colby-Sawyer cut the deficit in half five minutes later on sophomore Alexa Comesanas' first tally of the season.

The remainder of the game would be a stalemate resulting in the final 2-1 score. Simmons held an 11-8 edge in shots and penalty corners.

Junior goalie Renna Smith (Belfast, Maine) made five stops to earn the victory. Freshman goalie Jodi Dumayne had seven saves for Colby-Sawyer.

Colby-Sawyer returns to action next Saturday with a NAC home contest with Thomas at noon.
