Tennis Drops to Bentley University in Spring Opener

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons tennis (8-8) opened its spring schedule falling to Bentley University, 8-1, in an interdivision meeting on Friday afternoon. 

Bentley opened the day with sweep of doubles to take the 3-0 lead. However, junior Sara Fucillo and sophomore Julia Perconti made Anna Lang and Miruna Constantin work for their third doubles victory. The Sharks' tandem battled to the 7-7 tie before dropping the tie-break, 4-2.

Senior Sam Margolin earned the Sharks lone victory of the day picking up a two-set win in fifth singles. After jumping out to the 1-0 match lead with a 6-4 win the first set, the Falcons' Rachel Holden looked even the match battling Margolin in the second set, but Margolin grinded out the 7-6 (7-5) win.  

In sixth singles, sophomore Emily Lopez gave Miruna Constantin a fight before falling in two sets (6-4, 6-2). Fellow classmate, Avery Halloran came out strong in fourth singles taking Anna Higgins to nine games, before dropping the first set, 6-3.
