BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons tennis' (8-6) fall season comes to a close falling to the second seed University of St. Joseph (Conn.) (10-4) in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) semifinals on Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Jays jumped out in front early, sweeping doubles. But the Sharks did not make it easy. First doubles tandem of first-year Masha Shutts and Emilie Lapointe took Olivia Santoro and Maddie Rossetti to 12 games before falling 8-4. Senior Emily Lopez and sophomore Emma Parsons also were competitive against Kate Hardy and Nina Gardella in third doubles, but were unable to pull out the win.

In the singles portion of the competition, Lapointe took the first set of second singles from Rossetti, 6-1, but Lapointe was unable to finish. USJ pulled out a pair of identical, two-set victories at third and fourth singles to advance to the GNAC Championship.
