BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons tennis (6-5) snapped a four-match win streak, falling to non-conference Wheaton College (1-3) in a midweek match on Wednesday afternoon.
After dropping the doubles point, the Sharks came back strong in singles. First-year
Masha Shutts picked up her ninth singles win of the season, edging out Kara Greenlee in two-set, 7-5, 7-6, while sophomore
Emilie Lapointe kept pace also earning her ninth singles win of the season. Lapointe knocked off Laila Haraj-Sai in two-sets, 7-6 (7-5), 6-1.
Sophomore
Grace Burke rounded out the three Sharks to earn wins, with a three-set win over Haylee Doiron in sixth singles. Burke edged out Doiron winning the first set, 7-6 (7-5) to take the 1-0 match lead, but after Doiron evened the match with a second set win, Burke got the best of her winning the third set, 10-3.
