FRANKLIN, Mass. – Simmons soccer (1-6-2, 1-5-2 GNAC) battled Dean College (2-6-1, 1-4-1 GNAC) to a 0-0 tie in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday afternoon.
The Sharks set the tone early and looked poised to put points on the board early. Earning a corner kick five minutes into the contest, junior
Emma McEwan's shot escaped wide of the goal. But they continued to pressure the Bulldog defense, outshooting Dean 11-5 in the first half.
Momentum continued remain in the Sharks favor as the second half began. Graduate senior
Cerys Balmer ripped a shot on target two minutes into the period but was rejected by Dean goalkeeper Haley Gaunt.
Midway through the second 45 minutes, the Sharks received back-to-back corner kicks but were unable to capitalize on the opportunity. Sophomore
Grace Nostrant's shot was knocked away by Gaunt to keep the game scoreless.
Simmons played all the way until the final whistle firing shots at the Bulldog goalkeeper. But they were unable to let one sneak in.
