NORTHFIELD, Vt. – First-year runner
Wanda Cirillo lead Simmons cross country to a fifth place finish at the 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship Meet on Saturday morning.
Running at a 6:50 pace, Cirillo posted a season- and personal-best time in the championship meet, crossing the finish line with a time of 25:42.3. Finishing 10
th of 82 runners, Cirillo garnered All-GNAC Second Team honors and became the first Simmons first-year since Alice Najimy in 2018 to earn all-conference recognition.
Not far behind Cirillo were junior
Kaylah Schnitzer and sophomore
Hannah Bergeron, pacing themselves at a 7:17-minute mile time. Schnitzer placed 22 with a time of 27:08.4 – once second ahead of Bergeron, who finished with a personal-best time of 27:08.4.
Senior runner
Sofia Girioni also clocked a personal-best time at the championship meet, crossing the finish line with a time of 27:43.8. Sophomore
Julia Pellegrino rounded out the four Sharks runners post personal-best, finishing with a time of 28:41.5.
