Julia Perconti knocked off Valentina Abarca and Ella Mancini, 6-4. With doubles tied at one, the Sharks first doubles tandem of sophomore
Emilie Lapointe and
Masha Shutts defeated Gianna Ferraro and Izzy Pecora by an identical 6-4 score to give the Sharks the 1-0 match advantage.
In the singles portion of the competition, Lapointe took the first set of second singles, 6-4, from Izzy Pecora, but Pecora answered with a 6-1 win in the second before taking the tie-breaker 10-5. Sophomore Emma Parson played solid in fifth singles against Adriana Palmieri, taking two games in the first set, while classmate
Grace Burke won three games in the second set of sixth singles before falling in two sets. But singles belonged to the Hawks, as Roger Williams won all six singles matches.
