Tennis Picks Up Non-Conference Win Over Emerson, 5-2

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons tennis (2-3) picked up non-conference win following a 5-2 victory over Emerson College (0-1) on Wednesday afternoon.

The Lions grabbed the doubles points, winning both first and third doubles. However, the Sharks second doubles tandem of senior Julia Perconti and first-year Amoli Vad made disposed of Abigail Miner and Kendi Bispham to give Simmons the 6-1 win in second doubles.

Trailing after doubles did not phase the Sharks, going on to win five out of six singles matches to secure the win. First-year Masha Shutts got singles started on the right foot knocking off Amaya Briones in first singles in two sets, 6-1, 6-3, before Amoli Vad took third singles from Alisa Primenova, 6-4, 6-2.

Senior Emily Lopez defeated Kendi Bispham with ease in two sets, 6-2, 6-0, before sophomore Emilie Lapointe took second singles from Abigail Miner, 6-3, 7-5. Fellow senior Julia Perconti rounded out the Sharks singles victory with at two-set (7-6, 6-3) win in fifth singles.
