WESTON, Mass. – Simmons tennis (3-4, 1-2 GNAC) blanked Regis College (0-4, 0-1 GNAC), 9-0 to earned its first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win and improve to 3-4 on the season on Wednesday evening.
The Sharks came out of the gate strong, jumping out to a 3-0 lead with a sweep of doubles. Junior
Laura Lowe and first-year
Reese McFarland shut-out Shalom Njau and Alex Nicholls-Millen, 8-0, in second doubles, while senior
Julia Perconti and
Amoli Vad defeated Harmony Lopez and Akshita Duvvuri, 8-2, in first singles.
In the singles portion of the competition, senior
Emily Lopez earned her third win of the season blanking Njau in third singles, 6-0, 6-0. Lopez was one of four Sharks to shutout the Pride. Sophomore
Emilie Lapointe followed suit with a two-set, 6-0, 6-0 win in second singles, while first-year
Masha Shutts blanked Harmony Lopez, 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore
Emma Parsons rounded out the foursome with a 6-0, 6-0 win in fifth singles.
Sophomore
Grace Burke earned her fourth singles win of the year defeating Nicholls-Millon in two sets, 6-3, 6-1.
