BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons tennis (4-4) climbed back to .500 on the season and earned their second straight win following a 6-1 win over non-conference Clark University (0-4) on Tuesday afternoon.
The Sharks came out of the gate strong taking the doubles point with a sweep of doubles. First doubles tandem of sophomore
Emilie Lapointe and first-year
Masha Shutts secured their sixth win, blanking Larkin Gardiner and Marielle Kane, 6-0. Senior
Julia Perconti and first-year
Amoli Vad knocked off Crisi Patel and Amanda Keith, 6-2, while sophomore
Emma Parsons and junior
Laura Lowe edged out Emma Allen and Amy Arin, 7-6 (6-4) in third doubles.
In the singles portion of the competition, the Sharks continued to roll. Shutts made quick work of Gardiner in first singles, 6-0, 6-0, while Perconti earned her second win of the season with a two-set, 6-2, 6-1, win in fourth singles.
Lapointe kept pace with Shutts earning her sixth singles win of the season with a two-set, 6-0, 6-, win in second singles. First-year
Amoli Vad battled out a three-set, 3-6, 6-3, 10-7, win in third singles, while sophomore
Grace Burke took sixth singles form Amy Marin, 6-2, 4-6, 10-5.
