BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons tennis (5-4) handed UMass Boston (4-1) their first loss of the season following a 6-1 win on Wednesday evening.
 
The Sharks began the night strong, taking the doubles point. Third doubles tandem of first-year 
Reese McFarland and sophomore 
Laura Lowe defeated Beacons' Kayla Calderone and Kate Vivia Romerao with ease, 6-1. After the Beacons evened doubles, pulling out the 6-3 win in first doubles, seniors 
Julia Perconti and 
Emily Lopez snatched second doubles, 6-4, to grabe the doubles point.
 
In the singles portion of the night, sophomore 
Emma Parsons blanked Kate Vivia Romero in two sets, 6-0, 6-0. Not long after, sophomore 
Grace Burke earned her sixth singles win of the season with a two-set, 6-0, 6-1, win in fifth singles.
 
After dropping the first set of fourth singles, Lopez answered with identical 6-1 wins in the second and third set to earn her fourth win of the season. Sophomore 
Emilie Lapointe picked up her seventh win of the season with a 7-5, 6-4 win in second singles, while first-year 
Masha Shutts kept pace claiming the three-set win in first singles for her team-leading seventh win.
