Fast Start Propels Blazers Past Sharks

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Kicking off in Chicopee for the second Simmons contest of the afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action, the Sharks soccer team battled the Blazers of Elms College where the Blazers were able to strike early to secure the eventual 4-2 win.

How It Happened
  • In the opening nine minutes, the Blazers bolted out to a 3-0 advantage. Then, in the 31st minute Olivia Riley threaded the needle to lead teammate Grace Nostrant for a Simmons goal to put the Sharks on the board. Elms tacked on another before the end of the half to go on top, 4-1 at the break.
  • Lauren Krupnikoff curled in a perfectly placed ball off of a corner kick in the 79th minute where Mikaela Marie Javar headed in the ball from the left side of the goal, all the way into the back right side netting to cut the deficit in half (4-2). In the final minutes, the Sharks ripped off two more shots, but the home team held on for the win.
