FULL MEET RESULTS
NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Simmons University Cross Country team took the long trip up to Vermont to compete at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Cross Country Championships hosted by Norwich University. The Sharks orchestrated a fifth place finish with a score of 125.
Emmanuel captured the crown with 55 points, followed by Colby-Sawyer with 59 and St. Joseph's and Norwich both with a score of 68. Rounding out the lineup for the team scores were New England College (172), Regis (200), Dean (249), and Mitchell (265).
By The Numbers
- Transfer Jaden Johnson shined in her first GNAC Championship meet as the sophomore earned second place with her time of 24:09.40. Johnson crossed the finish line just .04 behind the Colby-Sawyer runner who took first. Johnson's second place position is the best a Shark has placed at the league championship in program history. Additionally, the standout runner's time marked a personal best and was two minutes faster than her time at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 20.
- Hannah Bergeron also put on a show with her time of 26:50.10 to come in 26th place. Bergeron also bested her time from the UMass Dartmouth meet by almost two minutes.
- First-year Cierra Hoyt followed closely behind, claiming 30th place with a time of 27:11.90, while Reagan Miller and Savannah Williams teamed up to finish 43rd (29:46.0) and 44th (29:58.9), respectively. Hoyt's time was the second fastest by a Simmons' first year since 2019.
- Rounding out Simmons' lineup, Julia Pellegrino, Katie Repoli, and Beth Pennington all turned in strong performances just outside the top 50, capping off what proved to be the Sharks' best team outing of the season.
Johnson's second place finished earned the sophomore GNAC All-Conference honors. Additionally, the Sharks' recorded four personal bests today.
