Sharks Open Up Season At Suffolk Relays

ROXBURY, Mass. – Simmons University Track and Field made the short trip to the Reggie Lewis Center today to open their 2025–2026 season at the Suffolk Relays.

Isatu Fofanah launched her junior campaign in impressive fashion, powering through multiple heats to qualify for the finals in the 60m. Her qualifying time of 8.25 broke the previous school record of 8.32. In the finals, Fofanah clocked an 8.37.
In the 200m, Jayla James led the Sharks with a 30.19, followed closely by first-year Alina Albuja, who finished in 30.46.
In the 300m, both Carolyn Dorman and Isabel Deptula earned top-10 finishes. Dorman placed eighth with a 48.15, while Deptula secured 10th with a 49.33. Today marked the first time the Sharks competed in the 300m, securing a school record for Dorman.
Julia Pellegrino finished 23rd in the 400m, crossing in 1:14.17.
Long-distance specialists Reagan Miller and Beth Pennington placed 14th and 16th in the mile, respectively.
Competing in the 1600m SMR for the first time in program history, the team of Albuja, Deptula, Dorman, and Pellegrino posted a time of 5:20.55.
