BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons lacrosse secured their first win of the season by defeating Gordon College 13-11 on March 11, 2025, at Daly Field.
The Sharks started strong, with Kat Wood scoring the opening goal, assisted by Abby Mountain, at 13:08 in the first quarter. Frida Turriza added an unassisted goal at 9:20, giving Simmons an early 2-0 lead. Gordon responded with two goals to tie the game, but Wood and Turriza each netted another goal, ending the first quarter with Simmons leading 4-3.
In the second quarter, Simmons extended their lead with goals from Everett Garner (assisted by Mountain), Lauren Krupnikoff, and Turriza, bringing the score to 7-4. Gordon narrowed the gap with two goals before halftime, making it 7-6.
The Sharks dominated the third quarter, outscoring Gordon 5-3. Wood, Garner, Mountain, and Leah Finn each contributed goals, with assists from Mountain and Garner, pushing Simmons' lead to 12-9.
Despite a late push from Gordon in the fourth quarter, Simmons maintained their lead. Garner scored her third goal of the game at 10:32, and Gordon added two more goals, but the Sharks held on for a 13-11 victory.
Turriza, Wood, and Garner each recorded hat tricks for Simmons, while Mountain added two goals and two assists. Krupnikoff and Finn contributed one goal a piece.
