BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons lacrosse fell to Colby-Sawyer, 12-6, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) on Saturday morning at Daly Field.
Simmons started strong, leading 3-1 at the end of the first quarter. Senior midfielder
Cerys Balmer opened the scoring at 7:03, followed by two goals from senior attacker
Frida Turriza, with an assist from senior defender
Kat Wood on the second. Colby-Sawyer's Soph Kuhlthau responded with a goal at 2:51.
The Chargers dominated the second quarter, scoring four unanswered goals to lead 5-3 at halftime. Simmons struggled to regain momentum, adding only one goal in the third quarter from first-year attacker
Abby Mountain, assisted by Turriza. Turriza completed her hat trick with a late goal in the fourth quarter.
Despite the loss, Turriza's performance was a highlight for the Sharks, contributing three goals and one assist. Balmer, Mountain, and senior attacker
Layla Drinkwater each added a goal. Senior goalkeeper
Anya Younie made six saves.
