NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Despite a strong effort, Simmons lacrosse fell to Norwich University, 11-6, in a midweek Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest on Wednesday evening.
 
The Sharks started the game assertively, with Layla Drinkwater scoring the opening goal at 7:57, followed by a goal from Frida Turriza at 7:02, giving the Sharks a 2-0 lead. Norwich responded with two goals to tie the game by the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Cadets added three more goals, while Turriza netted another for Simmons, bringing the halftime score to 5-3 in favor of Norwich.

Returning the field at the start of the second half, the Sharks showed resilience with Drinkwater and Turriza each scoring unassisted goals. First-year Caitie Theissen added another, briefly giving Simmons a 6-5 lead. 

However, Norwich's defense tightened in the fourth quarter, preventing any further scoring from the Sharks. The Cadets capitalized on their offensive opportunities, scoring five unanswered goals to secure the 11-6 victory.

SIMMONS HIGHLIGHTS

• Senior Frida Turriza led the offense registering her fourth straight hat-trick of the season, tallying three goals.
• Senior Layla Drinkwater contributed two goals.
• First-year Caitie Theissen recorded her second career goal for the Sharks.
