Ella Donovan with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh of game two as Simmons softball (10-13, 10-13, 2-0 GNAC) opened GNAC action with a sweep of Regis College (6-12, 0-4 GNAC) on Wednesday evening.
GAME 2: Simmons 5, Regis 4
Deleault initiated the scoring with an RBI single to center field, bringing home junior
Piper Kinney. First-year right fielder
Zoe Soule followed with a ground out to shortstop, Deleault to score with the game's second run. Junior
Trinity Payne, then, singled through the left side, driving in Anderson. The inning concluded with Berdeen stealing home, pushing the Sharks' lead to 4-0.
Regis responded in the fourth inning, capitalizing on a fielding error and a wild pitch to score four runs in the fourth and tie the game.
The game remained deadlocked until the bottom of the seventh inning. With two outs, Deleault delivered a clutch single to shortstop, allowing first-year pinch runner
Ella Donovan to score the winning run.
Junior pitcher
Ally Hyde earned the win for Simmons, bringing her season record to 3-3 after tossing 2.2 innings of solid relief and striking out four opposing batters.
GAME 1: Simmons 7, Regis 0
Junior right-hander
Piper Kinney delivered an outstanding performance in the circle in game one. Tossing a complete-game shutout, she allowed only three hits and struck out 12 to improved to 6-6 on the season.
The Sharks' offense was led by first-year
Zoe Soule, who went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. In the first inning, Soule's double to left field drove in
Leah Berdeen and
Teagan Buckley, giving Simmons an early 2-0 lead. Soule added an RBI single in the third inning, extending the lead to 3-0.
In the sixth inning, Simmons added three more runs. Senior
Raya Anderson singled to center field, driving in Kinney. Berdeen grounded out to second base, allowing another run to score, and Buckley singled to right field, bringing home Anderson to cap the scoring at 7-0.

- Junior right-hander Piper Kinney earned her sixth win of the season tossing a complete-game shutout while fanning 12 Pride batters.
- Junior right-hander Ally Hyde climbed back to .500 on the season earning her third win, pitching 2.2 innings of solid relief with four strikeouts in game two.
- First-year Zoe Soule went two-for-four with a double and three RBI in game one's shutout.
- Junior Teagan Buckley went two-for-four with an RBI in game one.
