BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons tennis (9-8) earned their first victory of the spring season edging out Emerson College, 4-3, on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The Sharks claimed the doubles point, winning both first and third doubles. First doubles tandem of first-year Masha Shutts and sophomore Emilie Lapointe defeated Amaya Briones and Chase Stinson, 6-2. After the Lions won second doubles, Simmons' third doubles duo of Amoli Vad and Reese McFarland edged out Carlson Jones and Sidra Sunday, 7-5.
 
In the singles portion of the day, Shutts made quick work of Briones in first singles with a two-set, 6-2, 6-0 win. Moments later, Lapointe secured the second singles win with two-set win over  Alisa Pimenova, 6-1, 6-0. Vad rounded out the three Sharks singles win with a three-set win over Jayden Beverly in third singles.
